I know it is only mid-offseason, and many teams will still make some deals. The Jackets still have 9 million left in CAP space but I doubt they will use it. They are really just hoping Nikita Filatov is able to get his visa problems fixed. So, here is a little overview of the West Central Division.
The Central Division this season is going to be a very difficult task for the Army to try and win, heck it’s almost impossible with the Wings crazy lineup. But this season is not about winning any championships. It’s about making it into the playoffs.
07-08 Record: 54-21-7
Well. You see that logo and, well at least when I see it, I think of a great hockey club, with ALOT of history, especially recent and consistent quality hockey. But also I look at that and I say “I hate Detroit”. I do, with all of my passion, more than any other city. Cleveland/Detroit are very similar. There really similar. Poor, high crime rate, right by Lake Erie ect ect. I hate the Pistons, Wings, and Tigers.
The Red Wings are the defending Stanley Cup Champions and they have the best chance of repeating, or at least thats what Marian Hossa says…. They picked up one of the best wingers in the NHL. If Osgood cannot perform this year they have a great backup in Conklin, after losing that dude they used to call the dominator. So enless Scotty Bowman had magical powers for them, I see them winning the division. If Scotty Bowman does possess magical powers, well then I guess the Blackhawks will be damn good.
07-08 Record: 44-34-8
Secretly, Scotty Bowman knows everything there is to run a hockey team, and to win a Stanley Cup. Well, its really no secret, because it shows. He has coached 3 different teams to over 10 Cups. So I guess we should worry about that. NOT. We really should worry about how this team has a resurgence. They have a 1# Draft Pick who has potential, a couple other young guys that also have much potential. They have boosted there D by picking up Brian Campbell. They have 2 goaltenders that are being paid way to much. The Winter Classic is going to be held in the Windy City. They have Potential. But they have to prove it first.
07-08 Record: 41-32-9
I really wish they would of beaten the Wings in the first round.. They had a chance, they looked strong but had some key injuries and they didn’t have enough to overcome that. G Dan Ellis showed hes got something but it took him a few years to get that good, so I really don’t know what to expect of this guy. This offseason they did not do much, but expect them to make some deals as they just lost a player to the KHL.
07-08 Record: 33-36-13
The Jackets BETTER win more games then this club this upcoming season. Last season they added Paul Kariya and we were supposed to be scared. This offseason they didn’t do much but stare at that dam arch. Oh, and create a third jersey thats supposed to be SWEET. All that aside I think they should make a few more moves before Sept.
i hope its as cool as that one ^^ :/
I’ll have a better outlook of the division once t-camps open and such and rosters get set.
